There
are four traditional centers of miniature lacquered box painting in Russia and
the surrounding countries, which today have become the most famous. They are
Fedoskino, Palekh, Mstera and Kholui. Mstera lacquerware typically depicts
beautiful floral or elaborate fairytale-like fantasies based on folk,
historical, or literary works. The wooden lacquer round jewelry box is
hand-painted and signed on the lid back’s by the artist. I do not know about
the Russian Folk Tale painted on the lid. Dimensions: Square shaped; W: 4”; H: 2-1/4”.
